Romanian coloratura soprano Larisa Ștefan trained at the Centre de Perfeccionament of the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia from 2019 to 2021. Her training also includes the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro, where she was a member in 2018, the Lya Hubic Opera Studio of the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca (2017–2019), the University of Music in Oradea (2013–2017), and the Dinu Lipatti Arts High School in Pitești (2009–2013).
At the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, she has appeared as Amparo in Sarsola a la cassola (2026), La Fée in Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon (2024 and 2025), Costanza in Manuel García’s L’Isola disabitata (2021), Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola (2020), and Thérèse in Poulenc’s Les Mamelles de Tirésias (2019).
Her other stage appearances include the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona (2022), Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore and Arsena in Johann Strauss II’s Der Zigeunerbaron at the Romanian Opera of Craiova (2023), Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni (2019) and Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème (2018) at the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca, and Contessa di Folleville in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims at the Teatro Rossini in Pesaro (2018).
In concert, she has appeared as a soloist with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra at the Cairo Opera House in Egypt, performing several concerts in 2022, 2024 and 2025. She has also collaborated as a soloist with philharmonic orchestras throughout Romania.
Her artistic training has included masterclasses with Plácido Domingo, Mariella Devia, Ernesto Palacio, Juan Diego Flórez and Theodore Coresi . She has worked with conductors Carlo Rizzi, Marc Albrecht, Gustavo Gimeno and David Crescenzi , as well as pianist Roger Vignoles, and with stage directors Laurent Pelly, Emilio Sagi, Ted Huffman, Robert Carsen and Katie Mitchell .
Her competition distinctions include First Prize at the International Singing Competition of Albacete in Spain (2021), the Grand Prize at the Sabin Drăgoi International Singing Competition (2017), the Special Prize offered by the Darclée Foundation at the Hariclea Darclée International Singing Competition (2017), and Second Prize at the Vox Artis International Singing Competition (2016).
From 2014 to 2017, she was a scholarship holder of the Young Talents programme of the Princess Margareta of Romania Foundation .
